This evening my dads battle has ended. We take comfort in knowing he reached his goal of not only getting on the transplant list, but receiving a healthy young liver that was actually a successful transplant. Unfortunately the multiple complications that accompanied it could not be reversed. We are thankful that we got to spend the entire Saturday before surgery together as a family -- laughing, sharing stories, and watching my dad be the goofball we all know he was. Before surgery he joked that he was unkillable and told us not to worry. I think we can all agree that he was right. His spirit and the memories we have of him will be with us always, and THAT is indeed unkillable. My family and I can not thank you enough for all your words and actions of support through this long and difficult journey. He was and always will be a very loved man and if I do say so myself, the best damn dad in the entire world.
