This following question was asked of me today and I must conclude that it is useful to others. The question was: ...how does one demonstrate competence and responsibility? Lets first look at your question closely: How does implies that an action verb is required. There is no action required. Demonstrate - Demon and Strate; the requirement again is not an action in left-brain 3D space. Competence - is achieved by persistent and deliberate attention and consciousness to what is occurring in the Now at all times (time being an ego illusion where past is a egoic memory artifact and future is an egoic hypothetical possibility which is not possible in a deterministic universe as all that happens now occurs with purpose and for a reason. Truth resides in the now if one observes and derives the truths intended meaning and purpose). Attention is distracted by ego through thoughts, emotion and actions even by events, symbols, emotion and thoughts designed to distract or conceal the truth of the now. These distractions block the proper reception of the observer in receiving the truth of the now and distorts the true meaning of what is occurring right now. A competent man can cut through the distractions and receive the true meaning and purpose of the events that occur right now, merely by refining his attention and increasing his consciousness of those events to know their meaning (not definition, definition is ego). Now --> Know being in the now=being in the know Nowledgable. Responsibility - Is to respond or not respond, to the event in the present moment, to satisfy the purpose of the moment and the immediate lesson one is being shown. In the case of a non-response where the purpose and reason of the moment is not received correctly or when one is asleep, with their eyes either open or not, then that is known as unresponsive (including walking dead zombie). In the case where ones response is not appropriate or not in alignment with ones immediate lesson then that is irresponsible. When a man is unresponsive or irresponsible then he will enjoy suffering until his perception and consciousness returns to mount the proper response or non-response in the moment. There is no action required to be in this state. It is achieved through a verb of beingor a non-action. One can however, study closely those egoic distractions that occur that interfere with one being in the now and responding properly in accordance to the law such that one does not enjoy a surplus of unnecessary suffering. That is indeed what one can do to remedy their incompetence and irresponsibility. Learning the law, in order respond properly to the events in the now, is therefore crucial to the proper response, as a response is right when it is in alignment to the law and it is wrong when it is not.
