This footage of Russell Brands recent interview has been making the rounds the last few days and Id like to make three comments as its popularity grows amongst my peers. 1.) While federal elections are indeed a dog and pony show, not voting in your local municipal and state elections is absurd and usually a symptom of apathy, not with the western political system, but rather anything outside of a persons immediate sphere of good times. It takes time and thought to at least know the candidates and resolutions up for ballot in the city you live in. If you dont like them either run yourself, or support someone with a better idea. Georgians, remember when you couldnt buy booze on Sunday? That was a ballot issue which was VOTED on. 2.) Rattling off an incoherent litany of accusations in an agitated and boisterous manner does not constitute real debate and certainly doesnt spark a revolution. 3.) Really Russell? You want to attempt arguments about economic disparity in a $500 tuxedo shirt and $300 scarf while simultaneously blaming politicians for your former drug problem? I guess youre against all corporations except Barneys NYC?
