This has been a challenging season for my little family. Thats not to say things have been bad - but certainly trying...on every conceivable level. Weve made some big decisions this year, many of which involve the opening and closing of doors that we really have no control over. We second-guess those decisions daily, but when we stop over-analyzing and making endless lists of contingencies and just BE STILL for a minute, we know were on the right path...even if were not quite 100% sure where that path is leading. Since leaving my job in August, which left us on a painfully slim budget, weve faced a number of additional unexpected, but unavoidable, financial challenges - including emergency vet bills, emergency dental bills, car repairs, expensive medical tests, etc... As of this time last week, we were utterly overwhelmed - literally trying to figure out how to purchase enough gas to get Seth to and from work until the next payday, and still be able to buy groceries for a special Christmas Eve dinner. We accepted the fact that Christmas Eve dinner might just have to be of the beans and rice variety, and tried to focus on being grateful for our plentiful pantry that is stocked with enough basic staples to keep our bellies full and and bodies nourished for at least a month, regardless of whatever financial squeeze we find ourselves in. The reason I share all of this right now is not to have a self-indulgent pity party, but quite the opposite! Since our lowest moment last week, we have been absolutely pummeled with answered prayers from unexpected places...between gifts in the form of gift cards and cash, thoughtful friends sharing wonderful homegrown produce and homemade treats, unusually generous tips from Seths customers, and a variety of random acts of kindness from both strangers and acquaintances we are utterly overwhelmed and reassured in Gods provision for us. In the midst of our current less-than-comfortable circumstances and the mountain of uncertainties ahead, I can absolutely say, without a doubt, that we are truly, truly blessed.
