This has been on my mind a lot recently. We all expect blood to be there if we need it but only 4% of the population choose to donate. this creates a huge deficit that keeps getting bigger. Giving blood and platelets takes just 20 minutes and one donation can save 3 lives(!!!). I would say thats 20 mins well spent. In particular, I urge anyone who has O- blood to really consider this, your blood is a universal donor and its pretty rare, they really really need this! Blood transfusions saved my life and it makes me sad that because of this I cannot repay this gift. You just never know when you might need this simple but life saving service. If youve never thought about donation before then have a look on the website and see whats up xx
