This headline reads that Russell Brand may have started a revolution, but he never claims to be starting anything, only that hes vocalizing what it is that is already happening. The Revolution has already begun (and it should be a peaceful one, mind you). How can you begin to play a part? Begin by realizing that the concepts of our current governmental structures may be somewhat salvageable, but they are completely running under the false pretenses of having the Peoples interests in mind. The governments of the world do not know the People that they govern, and in this Antoinette-esque state, they continue to officiate over our Lives. Just as Russell Brand says in this interview, there is no one to give you authority that you do not need to be given. The authority to make the world a better place, to bring happiness, comfort, stability, all of these things to the public, this is authority that we all have already. Those who are in offices who govern us are there by the graces of the People, because we perpetuate their tenure - NOT by voting in ballot boxes, but by the purchases we make. Consumerism is the voting bank of the nations. The People tell the governments what they need and - instead of listening to the People, the governments will check with those who pay their salaries (outside of the political world, these are called bosses). To the politicians, these bosses are the companies and corporations of the world. Do you really think that the lawmakers are listening to the People who pay pennies in taxes and gifts compared to the billions that corporations pay? Of course they arent. Anyone who has ever worked with the IRS knows that they work under the assumption that People have and earn more money than they are actually reporting. Many businesses run under the same premise of Oh, well the People SAY that theyre poor and that they have no money, but if they want something bad enough, theyll find a way to get the money, so just sell sell sell, regardless of Humanitys or an individuals circumstances. We have been buying this for a long time now. We have been buying into the tale that if we purchase more things, then the world will improve - that consumerism is our greatest escape from poverty... This doesnt make sense at all. This is corporate advertising on a political level. Advertising has become incredibly effective and demonstrably subversive to the goals of eliminating poverty and financial disparity. If the People tell the governments what they NEED, then they are telling the corporations what they WANT, and (as stated previously) they do so by the purchases that they make. If the corporations do not like the Peoples needs, (according to what theyve told their governments), well... then they simply inundate the public with advertisements that are illegal to change or to cover up (the famous street Artist and Social Scientist, Banksy, has some interesting things to say on this subject, I assure you). Eventually (often quite quickly) the People will succumb to the advertising and they will place their votes with the money that they spend. Meanwhile, the governments will continue to pretend that they are listening and they (in concert with the corporations and the many media outlets that these corporations own) will - in effect - tell us what to do, what to think, where to go, what to buy, who to vote into office, what religions are best, etc etc etc. The device from Stanley Kubricks 1971 film A Clockwork Orange is in almost every single living room of almost every single home in the United States and in several other countries also. It is called a television. The Human brain is wired to immediately go into fight-or-flight mode if a flash of light, sudden movement, or sudden sound occurs. We enter a heightened state of awareness that allows us to absorb more information faster than is normal, because - essentially - we have to figure out if were about to be eaten by a dinosaur or not. In this heightened state of awareness, we placate ourselves before the devices that have put us there. These devices not only feed to us the pleasant dreams and stories of Lives that we wish we could be leading (were we not tied to the jobs that we despise but must attend in order to appease our need for purchasing), but they tell us what to purchase, what to believe, who to vote into office, etc etc etc. If you do not feel that you are being affected by the advertisements that come to you - not just in commercials (because many people dont even watch these anymore), but in the content of the programming, then stop watching television, stop going into stores. You will notice the effect that they have had once you remove them from your Lives. This is how subversive tactics are recognized. Product placement and the subliminal interlacing of advertising with media is a concept that was created by the nephew of the famed father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. Freuds nephew, Edward Bernays, would often consult with his uncle about varying approaches to publicity and the manipulation of thought on a social level. In his 1928 book, PROPAGANDA, he stated that The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind. The American government and the corporations both turned to Edward Bernays to determine how best to influence the masses and they found repeated success. When the cigarette companies couldnt get women to smoke, they turned to Bernays and found tremendous success. I wont take the time to go into the story here, but anyone with a sense of Googling things can quite easily read about it elsewhere. Currently, it is this system - this invisible government that Bernays describes - that runs the countries and therefore the world, not the People. Just as Russell Brand states in his interview, voting is simply a way to placate the People into thinking that theyve done something, but it actually does no good. If voting worked to improve the world, then the results of those votes would be evident and we would find the countries and the world in which we Live improving, but it is not improving. It is slipping and it is slipping because that is what happens when you stand on the backs of the People. Eventually, those backs will become drenched in sweat and break into blisters and sores that will bleed and ooze puss and make standing upon them something of a disgusting and an awfully difficult experience for anyone trying to balance upon them (not to mention the experience of those whose backs are bleeding). The solution of those who have been standing on our backs has been to just add another layer of backs (hence the existence of the middle class) to keep their Human pedestals from becoming too grotesque and to give them scapegoats once the fingers start to point around the room for blame because a Human Being has collapsed. Well... stand up, Human Beings of the world, and do so in Peace. Take nothing lightly anymore. See the devices of the nations for what they are and no longer take anything in stride. Do not wait. Do it now. Play your part, and do so peacefully. It is now, and it is upon us, the time for things to change. We are the ones who will do it. We will not vote it in, for our systems are corrupt. We will not buy excessively, for we are not susceptible to those efforts any longer. We have seen the wizard behind the curtain and we have seen the frailty of his age and the greed within his eyes. We will leave the wizard to his own devices and his solitude and let him learn to stand as well. After toppling him over in the sand by standing up ourselves, we will reach out an arm of Peace for him to take, but we will not bend for him again, for he has taken our bows of Peace before and used our knees and our shoulders as steps so that he may stand upon us and tell us of the greatness of his height. Now we will not bow nor bend nor break, but will stand in solidarity of Peace with words of Love and Understanding tattooed upon our lips and ears for all to be heard and for all to hear. We will not take another step toward dissidence, for many policies that are currently in place do not pertain to us and the people who have made our laws have done so in a way that has extricated consultation with us from the agenda of their creation. Therefore, we do not recognize such laws, we do not recognize such supposed authority over us, nor we do we recognize anything as authority outside of the authority that is common to the members of the Human Race (of which we all are part quite equally). Therefore, if you are claiming to have governance over us, to you we say... we Love you, but we will not follow you. You are one of us, but you are not over us. The borders of the nations are yours, not ours. We are Human Beings - all of us - and we are unified, whether youd like to admit it or not.
