This is Fluffy... 12 years ago, in a search for a puppy, we wandered onto a blocked off porch that was swimming with a swarm of golden lab infants... Mary Anne had recently had foot surgery, so her foot was wrapped in that funky plastic tape, and these little crits found it irresistible to check out and play with... shoeing them away didnt work... Then came Fluffy... the smallest of the brood began to chase the others away, and was protecting Mary Anne... Fluffy chose us, and as any dog owner(and I use the ridiculous term in the loosest possible manner) will tell you, that is how it HAS to be... 4-5 weeks later, she came home with us, to be immediately fed copious amounts of cheesy-poofs and re-christened Shadow... For 12 years, we have been blessed with the companionship of the gentlest, most easy going creature I have ever known... Yesterday, Shadow was diagnosed with Lymphoma... we dont think shes far along, but cant really tell till tests come back... there will be meds, but we will not put her through the hell of chemo... as long as she doesnt give up, we wont either... last night, she had the biggest burger (sans bun and condiments) Ive ever cooked anyone, other than myself... I almost lost two fingers giving it to her...
