This is Marti again and Beth asked me to please remind everyone to sign and share this petition. The following is a message from a rescue worker trying very hard to stop these inhumane practices. Please help by signing the petition. They are doing quite a few very wrong things.....1: They dont have scales to weigh the animals---they just guess weights and then give them the kill shot...the results in some animals not passing right away, or officers have to give them another shot. 2: In the state of Texas, animals MUST be sedated before receiving and inter-cardial kill shot (shot of meds right into the heart) Animal Control is NOT giving any of the animals any kind of sedative....on top of that, its come out that sometimes they dont even give the shot in the heart...they put the meds wherever and force the animal to absorb it into their system slowly (can sometimes take up to ten mins) 3: Also written into the state law, animals must be euthanized in a calm, quiet, EMPTY room and Amarillo Animal Control takes all the animals back in one group then goes down the line administering shots...all the animals know whats coming. 4: Texas state law again....all animals must be closely monitored from the time the receive the kill shot to the time their hearts stop.....thats also NOT being done. They give them the shots and then move on to another.....several animals have gotten up and walked away from the City dump (which is where they take the bodies) A witness came forward and stated that she saw them take a mother and her litter of puppies back and they killed the mother and then let the puppies crawl on her dead body before giving them their shot...one by one. On top of that (this is an instance when the shot wasnt in the heart) some of the puppies got their shot and then continued to crawl on and around their mother until they passed.
