This is Momma Patches and her babies x7! Three were orphaned and she took them in. Her babies are 9 days old now, the 3 little black ones are at least 8 days. Many of you know I help out a few different rescues and and when the room is empty whoever is in need usually gets it first. My friend and enabler Karla Weller-Barkley called last sunday and asked if I could Just pick up a mother cat that just delivered babies at RAS and drop them off at my place. RAS is not really equipped to deal with newborns I am told, so they reach out to rescues. I got them, called her and inquired if she had a foster. Noooo.... Well then I guess my room is full not isnt it. I think it was her diabolical plan all along :) . Then on Monday another friend calls and asks if I know anyone who can help some newborn kittens who were abandoned when the feral mother was accidentally run off, they did not know she had babies or would have not bothered her ever. (Peggy Glidden you are guilty as charged for calling about the orphans) . Another Chance Pet Rescue jumped right up to help. Karla stabilized them as they were cold. I picked them up that night to see if Patches would accept them. I have tried this 2 times before and never had a mother accept other babies. She smelled them, cleaned one all off and tucked them into the pile as if they were hers all along. It was amazing to see her do that. These babies and this very special momma will all be up for adoption when old enough.
