A new lawsuit was recently filed, New Yorkers for Students Educational Rights (NYSER) v. the State of New York (NYSER.org), is suing for the resources that students are entitled to under the state constitution. The suit alleges, among other things, that CCSS divests financial resources leaving schools unable to meet students sound basic education needs. Hudson Valley Parent/Educator Initiative is proud to announce that we have joined the suit as plaintiff to advocate and lobby on behalf of parents, students and teachers, at the student level, throughout the Hudson Valley. The defendants are Governor Cuomo, NYSED Commissioner King, the Board of Regents, et al. Hudson Valley Parent/Educator Initiative joins NYSSBA, NYSCOSS, NYSPTA and Class Size Matters in the suit against the State. Attached, is copy of the Press Release.
