This is Shaykh al-Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer. The lion of Salafiyyah. He died defending Ahlus Sunnah and the Ahlul Hadeeth. He is buried in Jannat al-Baqi and his janazah was lead by Shaykh Bin Baaz, who was Allama Ehsans teacher. Allamah Ibn Baaz (rahimahullah) said regarding him: The virtuous Shaykh, Ehsaan Elahi Zaheer (rahimahullah) is well-known to us and he was of sound aqeedah. I read some of his books and what they contained of advice for the sake of Allah to His servants pleased me, and so did his refutations of those who dispute with Islam. I ask Allah to multiply his reward and to cover us and him with Mercy, for indeed He is All-Hearing and Near... With Allama al-Albaani (rahimahullah), his other teacher, he had a close relationship with him: ...Ehsan studied under him (Shaykh al-Albaani) at the Islamic University of Madeenah, and Shaikh Ehsan used to love Shaikh al-Albaani and cherish him due to his excellence and because he was his teacher, and he had a debate with al-Albaani with manners and respect in some issues in which there was a difference of opinion and Shaikh al-Albaani used to praise Ehsan and his intelligence and al-Albaani said to ’Aabid, Shaikh Ehsan’s brother, ‘He was one of the intellectuals, and I will not forget the manners and politeness he afforded me …’ and he mentioned to him [i.e., to ’Aabid] that Ehsan travelled with him to London and he would massage Shaikh al-Albaani’s feet out of respect and esteem for him.” Ash-Shaikh Ehsan Elahi Zaheer wa Juhuduhu fi Taqreer al-’Aqidah war-Radd ’alaa al-Firaq al-Mukhaalafah, vol. 1, pp. 73-74. Shaykh Saalih al-Luhaydaan (hafidhahullaah) on Ehsaan Ilahi Zaheer (rahimahullah): His enthusiasm and agitation in defending the aqeedah had a huge impact in Pakistan and other places, and anyone who was concerned with monitoring the activities of the people of innovation within these last ten years is not ignorant to this fact. I had been closely linked to the late Shaykh over the years and I had a close relationship with him. I often insisted for him to exert caution and not to disseminate his activities and movements so as not to increase hostility. So they plotted a plan from Shaytaan against him, for indeed Shaytaan is a clear enemy unto man. Shaikh Rabee (hafidhahullaah) said about Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer: I knew him (Allamah Ehsaan) as a Mujaahid in the field of aqeedah, giving da’wah to it and defending it and those who carry it from the Sahaabah and those who followed them in goodness from the Ahl ul-Hadeeth and the Imaams of Ahl us-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah. He was also known for defending the people of the Qur’aan and Sunnah and refuting the opposing sects of misguidance from the Rawaafid, the Qaadiyaanĩs, the Bahaa’iyyah and the Barelwiyyah. He enriched the Salafĩ bookstores with ammunition which was of great value During a Khutbah Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer said: I too have wife and children. I too wish that my children do not become Orphans. But when I think of going back, I see in front of my eyes, Husayn Ibn Alee flooded with Blood in Karbalah. I see the master of both worlds colored with Blood in the Valley of Taaif. I can never betray these personalities... Newspaper report: When Allaamah Ehsaan Elaahi Zaheer was martyred, His funeral was also prayed in the Prophets Mosque after it was prayed in Khaana Kabah. It was so crowded that there was no room left to swing a cat. In the presence of hundreds of thousands of people, he was buried in Jannat ul-Baqee (in the section of Sahaabah) right next to the grave of Hazrat Imaam Maalik bin Anas, and right beneath the feet of Sayyidunah Ibraaheem bin Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) A news from the newspapers of 30th March 1987
