This is a Beautiful little Warrior named Grace: Grace is the youngest of three children, she has one brother and one sister, and lives in South Louisiana.Grace loves to play with her stuffed animals, as they are all her babies,(over 100),knowing each one by name.. Grace has a great imagination, which has become the safest place that she knows, and she loves to play there often. April 2010 Graces mom ( Daniell Fincher Jarrell ) noticed a mole on the inside of her left arm, just above the elbow, and thought that it was just a bug bite(looked more like a wart). June the same year,Grace and her family went on vacation,(Daniell was sure to slather everyone with sunscreen repeatedly) however soon Graces Spot became very angry looking, and upon returning home her mom made an appointment with a dermatologist to have it looked at,which was not until July(which was fast, normally it took 3 months) Grace had her mole biopsied for precautionary reasons, and much to their surprise and horror, the results cam back stage 3b Melanoma. The following week they met her team at MD Anderson, everything was happening so fast, first they had to remove a large portion out of her little , arm as well as a sentinel node biopsy, with the results showing that one of her nodes tested positive.Grace then had to go in a few weeks later for surgery, to have all of the lymph nodes from under her arm removed,as well as her having to start treatments in order to help her body learn to fight off the Melanoma . 5 days before Grace celebrated her 5th birthday she started Interferon, which consisted of 1 month of high dose infusions, then 11 months of weekly injections .Grace wanted to g to school so bad and missed playing with her friends, so half way through the year she gave it a try, falling asleep often, and even sometimes frighting the teachers and students, unable to wake her on certain occasions.Grace did not have much of an appetite, and lost quite a bit of weight, she hurt all over, and have constant terrible headaches. A few months in she started to complain that her arms and legs(or hands and feet) would fall asleep, which we later learned is called neuropathy. Grace could not keep her eyes open if there was a light on (including flash photography,as a result of an eye condition that she developed called Blepharitis.Grace also suffered from sever constipation, developed Hypothyroidism because of the toxicity in her body, her hair became very thin, and was unable to return to school when Kindergarten began(at this point sleeping more then 20 hours a day).Graces family helped her keep up with her work(when she was up to it),as she still wanted so badly to be a part of her class,it had become almost too difficult to even hold a pencil, and the thought of Grace not walking on stage to graduate from kindergarten was so difficult to bear,it had been something that she was looking so forward to,so with just 12 weeks left they enrolled her ,having no idea how many of those days she would miss.Grace completed 7 out of 12 weeks, and she was able to graduate with her class. School has been a constant struggle, this year more then last, not having to do with Graces ability to learn(very smart little girl) however being off of treatment for 2.5 years now,she is still having many of the problems that were attributed to treatments, and they are in the process of trying to figure out why. Early in 2014 she met with a Rheumatologist after being told that she had symptoms of several auto immune disorders,we were able to get a few answers, but even more questions, and finally some doctors began to take her pain more seriously. Graces family continues to investigate, and try to find the treatments to help ease her body pain, constant migraines,as well as something to help her not fall asleep in class.Grace is a very sweet little girl, has lots of friends, goes to church with her family, and all in all desperately wants to be a kid Jason Jarrell ,and Daniell (Dad and Mom) are prepared to go to the ends of the earth,to help Grace be able to do just that.. caringbridge.org/visit/thegreenwagon https://facebook/GracesGreenWagon
