This is a Colt .38 automatic. This was another of my grandfathers pistols. I only cleaned it and I am not doing anything else to it. Its in really good shape. I had to order a new link pin for the barrel swing link that attaches the swinging link to the frame. This is kinda the precursor to the 1911. The swinging link attaches at the front. Really cool little pistol. I put it next to a Glock 42 to compare. Its about three quarters of an inch taller in height and an inch and half longer than the 42. Ive seen these go on gun broker anywhere from $895 to $2200 in price and theyre no where near as nice condition as this one is. Any of them. Not for sale...some little TLC.
