This is a "See what I mean" post.. Where English is no longer a service but a business. Unfortunately we have to pay our bills and we have to live too! And with "Excusers" who call in sick 4 days after the event, that makes life very difficult for a tutor. You may add that there is no one to give us a pension, nor meet the expenses for "Heart Failure" caused by the students who are like the "I Hate my English Tutor" candidate! :) Actually she is now progressing extremely well, and she had to get over the initial dislike of English, per se, which extends to the tutor! Most of my foreign students take 7 to 10 sessions before they can "Express themselves", but the end result is success. I had one student, most obnoxious whom I affectionately termed "Rs 250", (she sat in class for longer than the prescribed time then tried to negotiate down on the extra one hour at quarter the price at the time) was a person who said "But my English Teacher in Korea!" and I said "Yes, your English teacher in Korea did not teach you "BUT"!" So much for that, peace ensued the process! The previous post shows the kind of question asked by a "Likely" online tutor.
