This is a TENT-ATIVE SCHEDULE of all future 2014 rallies, petition drives, and other events to be held by the Ocean County chapter of the Tent City Movement (TCM). It will include any multi-county / state-wide events, but other TCM county chapters should have their own schedule of events specific to their counties. This post may be edited and revised over time - events may be added or canceled. Exact times of day and locations are still open for discussion, and will be clarified / confirmed a couple of days before the event. * Sun, Sep 14 - Toms River - visits to existing TR homeless camps (around noon), then Downtown Petition Signing & Rally (starting 2pm). * Wed, Sep 17 - Toms River - 4pm Freeholder Meeting, then Petitions. * Thu, Sep 18 - Lakewood - 5pm Petition Signing, 7:30pm Town Hall. * Sun, Sep 21 - Brick - Downtown Petition Signing & Rally. * Sep 22 to 28 - No TCM events that week to avoid scheduling conflicts. Our first priority is to have a petition drive at least every Sunday afternoon, in downtown areas all over Ocean County. This weekly heartbeat is the minimal indicator to show the movement is active. It takes at least two people to do this - barring more jail time for recent Civil Disobedience, Alex Libman will be available for all OC events, but hell need a ride from Lakewood... Of course the more people we have the better, to not only collect petitions but also hold signs, have speeches, songs, etc - and hopefully get media coverage. The second priority is to become a persistent presence at the County Freeholder meetings. The third priority is to keep up the pressure on Lakewood Township about the harms of its bulldozing and anti-homeless laws... And of course you can support us without even leaving your home! In order to have a successful petition drive, we need to make lots of allies with existing organizations: churches, student groups, existing activism groups, etc. We need ambassadors who can contact organizations and talk them into picking up our petition drive - anyone can go to TentCity.org, print petitions, make lots of copies, solicit signatures, and then mail them back to us.
