This is a book that students of film and Harold Lloyd fans shouldnt be without.This is Donald McCaffreys /76 book Three Classic Silent Screen Comedies starring Harold Lloyd.The author examines Grandmas Boy,Safety Last and The Freshman.First he gives you an overview of Harolds career leading up to his salad days of the 20s.Then there is an overview of the plots,the setting up of the plots,preliminary development,midpoint of the development,development to the crisis,the climactic sequence, the resolution and an overall observation of each film.Then the author has Appendix A which lists each film shot by shot,Appendix B, a filmography and finally,and most revealing,an in person interview with Lloyd in /65.In the interview McCaffrey respectfully corrects him when necessary, and the two have an engaging three hour discussion on his films and his career.
