This is a good debate on the issue of jobs in Moreno Valley! Frank Ramirez I did not go to 4 years of community college, 1 year of chemo to beat cancer, and 2 more years of University at Cal State San Bernardino to be paid 12 dollars an hour to do sales and marketing in Chino and live at my parents in Moreno Valley! Something has to be done about this! Unlike · Reply · 10 · 7 hrs Debra Craig Congratulations on beating the cancer! I agree. And I fault our General Plan that put too much emphasis on building homes at the expense of having really nice business parks that would house a variety of higher paying jobs. Maybe warehouse jobs arent the ideal jobs for some. But we have to start somewhere. And there are many managerial jobs and other type of jobs that will be created if we embrace businesses into our community. The I.E. isnt Orange County. Moreno Valley isnt Irvine..yet. And remember, Irvine, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario all have some type of logistic businesses in their mix. We have to start somewhere. They have all these warehouses between cactus and Alessandro and some of them are vacant. They have been there for years. Whatever happened to the idea of the hospital that was suppose to be built on the non active March air reserve base? Unlike · 2 · 5 hrs Frank Ramirez I have no Idea what happen to those businesss. Some of them I ride my bike past. But, I also did not go to college to work in a warehouse. Unlike · 4 · 5 hrs Linda Burger-Grafstrom As someone just completing chemotherapy also, my concern regarding the WLC has to do with the projected increase in cancer and asthma rates. Living in one of the nations most polluted regions, why do we want projects that will only contribute and exacerbate the problem? Mira Loma is a prime example of a city that suffers higher rates of pollution related illnesses that are directly tied to the close proximity of warehouses, residential neighborhoods, and schools. More jobs that lead to health related illnesses, decreased quality of life, and lower life expectancies is a trade off I am not willing to make. Encouraging job growth in the medical industries or organic farming next to the wild life refuge on the east side of Moreno Valley seem like better alternatives to me. Like · 1 · 3 hrs · Edited Donovan Saadiq I agree Frank! But is a $12 job in a warehouse through a temp agency gonna be any different than where you are at now? I have been here for 38yrs and I have been hollering for better here a long time! Your education alone tells me we need jobs that pays what you are worth! I dont know many degreed people who want to work in a warehouse unless they are managers or something? What are your suggestions? I like the idea of a medical center. It brings so many associate jobs with it in different fields... A small segment in this city that doesnt care we dont have jobs ? Really ? If opponents didnt care why should we be sharing our opinion ?? Come on Debra .
