This is a letter from my mother in Chashmonaim. We have arranged that the packages that are sent to the Chashmonaim soldiers will be sent to the Detroit Chayalim Bodedim as well. Please read and share. Rabbi Yochanan Schrader Dear Friends and Family, As you know, the people of Israel have been thrust into a defensive war, as missiles bombard civilians on a daily basis. Thousands of soldiers have been called up to army duty, knowing that this campaign must eradicate the constant threat to their families. While these sons, husbands and fathers are off at war, their mothers, wives and families are left at home to worry, pray for their safe and speedy return, and continue on with life. We know our friends and families in the States are following these events and are praying for our safety. We feel the connection with our dear ones far away and turn to you now in our time of need. Chashmonaim has an active Emergency Support Team (“Tzachi”) with trained volunteers to address the urgent needs of our community during times of crisis. We are launching a few immediate projects, and we need your help. These include: 1. Sending ”care” packages to our own Chashmonaim soldiers on the front with urgently needed personal supplies and nourishment; 2. Running a day care program and babysitting for the children of young married soldiers who were called up for army duty and are serving on the front lines. Their worried wives are trying to keep up with life on their own, while maintaining their childrens’ routines. With formal summer day-care programs ending this week, there is no structured program for their young children; 3. On-site yishuv activities for school-age children for whom summer day camp is ending this week, and for whom nearly all youth group outings and trips have been cancelled due to the security situation around the country; 4. Support groups and activities for mothers and wives of soldiers. We ask you to make a difference during this time of crisis by helping us sponsor these projects. The members of our community are already contributing funds on an ongoing basis to activities like these, as well as to support families in the South, and we are strapped for funds. Please open your hearts, knowing that when our brave soldiers return from the horrors of war, exhausted and tense, they will find homes that are functioning well, through your generosity and understanding. We are all troopers in this war of survival, each of us having the ability to give of ourselves in our own way. US Tax-deductible donations can be made online at goodpeoplefund.org. Click on “Donate Now” and fill out the form, indicating that the funds are for Tzachi – Chashmonaim. Alternatively, $ checks can be made out to “The Good People Fund” with a notation for Tzachi – Chashmonaim or an attached note. Mailing address: The Good People Fund, 384 Wyoming Ave, Millburn N.J 07041. We would be grateful if you could send an email to tzachi2014@gmail notifying us that you have made a contribution. למען אחי ורעי אדברה נא שלום בך Thank you for your generosity, Yocheved Schrader Tzachi Chashmonaim tzachi2014@gmail
