This is a modern private library space with a Rococco mirror reflecting both a sky light ceiling and an elaborate chandelier. There are two chairs, or fauteuils, in the Louis XV style, which is marked by a wide seat, for ladies in the Eighteenth Century wide-hooped dresses that were meant to display large amounts of decorated garments. The chairs have curved legs, which the King and his mistress Madame de Pompadour preferred. They complimented and complemented the sensuousness of the female figure. The style of fabric on the cushions says that these chairs were meant for personal ease and comfort, not for blending in with grandiose interior architecture.
