This is a must read, no matter where you live or what you do. Also, prepare for a little rant: Although this article applies to all genres of music, this type of thing is rampant in the electronic music scene right now. With such a flooded scene right now, lots of djs are playing for free/no money with promises of exposure and experience. I really like how this article points out the situations where promoters, venues, sound engineers, lighting people, etc are all making money, while the people at the heart of it (the musician) are making little to no money (especially the locals). Anyway, this article really hits home for me, maybe because I spent years going through all the scenarios mentioned in the article, so I hope you guys that are coming up in the scene read this and find it helpful in strengthening yourself, your local scene, and music in general. rant complete/ Also, Id love to hear your guys thoughts on all this, especially if youre a dj/producer thats coming up, or even if youve been around for a while....
