*This is a repost, I woke up this morning with a strong urge to repost this message. Not sure why...maybe its to remind myself...* There is a scene on the brilliant Movie Avatar, where the main character Jake Suli has to pick his own Ikran, a giant bird that will serve as his transport and will be his companion for the rest of his life. This ritual of picking the Ikran is a right of passage sort of. Nervous and unsure of how the process is going to work, his girl friend, tells him pick the one that picks you too and he asks How will I know that it has chosen me? And she responds It will try to kill you and indeed it does try to kill him, they wrestle and eventually he wins and together they fly and achieve great things including winning and colonizing The Ruk, the baddest bird in the sky. This scene is very similar to life. I have learnt that the things that are worth having, or worth doing will test you to the core first. They will try to kill us first. A meaningful calling, a worthy course will almost always put us in harms way, it can never be a smooth sailing process. It shouldnt be easy. I think of all the greats from history and today, and I can assure you that their great courses put them in harms way first. I have learnt to not avoid that which pushes me to my limits. That which tests my tenacity, my passion, my loyalty, my character. Regardless of how difficult, humiliating and how long it takes. I have learnt to not avoid the things and situations that try to kill me, for those are the ones that give me flight, that takes me to other levels. Ps: if you have not watched Avatar. Make time to watch it this festive, its one of those movies you cant die before watching.
