This is a repost from Pink Zebra Home: Last night a question was posted about a child accidentally drinking fluid from a Reed Diffuser. As a company we take pride in following and adhering to all product guidelines. Below is a statement from our R&D department regarding Diffusers for you, along with a FAQ on Diffusers and Sprinkles. Warning labels clearly state not for consumption. Keep away from pets and children. If accidental ingestion occurs the Pink Zebra Reed diffusers were formulated to avoid the instant emergency of aspiration of fluids into the lungs. Aspiration Pneumonia can occur when ingesting low vapor pressure fluids common to many household goods. Pink Zebra has followed strict CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) guidelines that limit the ingredients that can be used in the air freshener category. Be aware of course large levels of ingestion or repeated ingestions should seek medical attention. MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) are available to emergency and medical personal on request. Below are two common questions you may experience: What happens if I drink my reed diffuser? • It will taste terrible. DO NOT DRINK REED DIFFUSERS. Not for Consumption • No aspiration hazard. Formulated under strict CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) guidelines to avoid aspiration hazard if accidentally swallowed. Aspiration hazard occurs when the lungs are flooded by certain types of liquids that move through the lung walls. • Drink lots of water and seek medical attention if nausea is persistent. What happens if I eat sprinkles? • They taste terrible. DO NOT EAT SPRINKLES. Not for Consumption. Waxes are edible, but they are not very digestible and will mostly go through your system without be broken down. Even though many fragrance ingredients are shared with the flavor industry they are not considered edible and ingestion should be avoided. A small amount accidentally eaten is no cause for concern, but larger amounts should be avoided especially for those with specific fragrance allergies.
