This is a response from Thomas L. Hurst, the current state - TopicsExpress

This is a response from Thomas L. Hurst, the current state representative for District 62 concerning MO Prop 1. If you go to the Missouri Farm Bureau website, they have several articles concerning this amendment. Read the ballot wording, study the facts, see what happened in North Dakota, examine those who support the amendment and what they value, examine those who do not support the issue and what they value; this may help clarify the issue. This is not about foreign ownership; we handled that in a bill last year. This is not about just helping corporate farms (Monsanto has stayed neutral in this issue and have not put money into the ads); 97% of the farms in Missouri are family owned. This is about adding another tool in the toolbox to protect agriculture in Missouri. Does this allow farmers to do whatever they want whenever they want? No. Does this take away responsibility, ordinances, laws, regulations? No. Is this the perfect fix for the attacks we face on agriculture? No, but it is better than nothing. I will continue to work to protect agriculture in this state regardless of the outcome of this bill, but come Tuesday...my vote will be YES on 1. Thanks for your concern and involvement in the issues important to Missouri. Have a great week.
