This is a serious demand to all literature departments of every university. Can we do away with criticism on a wholesale level? These critics, always at war with their predecessors and always a challenge to the breed to follow, confuse more than anything else. Over the course of their tenure, students are compelled to read more critical essays than the number of texts- each book comes with a gargantuous reading list full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Although all departments look for originality, what they really want is a well drafted answer loaded with diverse critical insights... several students, who have no affinity towards literature, mug up the prescribed essays and other material and get away with good marks. The text gets lost in the context; the context-s become a confusion that does nothing better than marring the joy of reading literature.
