This is a story about a man who is wondering about his life, or on how he can survive from this trial and give his only son a bright future now that he is alone. Why his wife does needs to leave them ten months ago? Why does God allow such thing in his life? He is now weary and hopeless in his situation and sometimes he feels like giving up. But because of his child he needs to be strong and forget some negative thoughts and continue his life. Even now that he put into trial again, because his house has been devastated by typhoon “Glenda”, and do not know how he will fix it, from a simple house, his bedroom was the only part left yet he still wake up again with a smile as early as 4:00 am. In the early morning, he’ll go straight to Mantagbac, Daet after a couple of bread for breakfast and a cup of coffee to fire up his spirit in the cold morning. The said place is where he earn for a living, the place where he get “soya” and other utensils that’s needed to start the day as a “taho vendor”. After a couple of hours of preparation around 6:00 am, he’s on his way to sell “taho”. His selling route was from Mantagbac Daet, to Market, after that he goes to Mercedes to sell “taho” up to 12:00 pm to make sure all the “taho” was sold out. But sometimes selling half a day was not possibly enough, especially during weekdays. Each set of “taho” costs 500 to 600 pesos if it’s sold out, from that said amount there’s a capital from the owner amounting 250 to 300 pesos, so in the end of the day he only gets half or less. His day doesn’t end by that, because afterwards he goes to his son that he left in his cousin, every day the loving father goes there to supply his beloved son all the possible things that his son would need for every day. It is hard in his part but he needs to leave the child under the care of his cousin in San Roque, Mercedes. He makes a daily routine from Mantacbac to San roque so that he can able to visit his child every day. With a small amount of profit he budget it for his son and leaves almost nothing for himself. Within the afternoon, he goes back to his home to finish the chores that he left on those time that he was not home. So simple yet so hard. Night comes and he is alone again. Here it comes some negative thoughts again. Everything is the same for him as day pass by. But all of the sudden, in his loneliness as he reminisce the past and wishing that his wife is with him, he found a simple book in the things of his wife. This book makes him realize a lot of things. He found the answer for his question and another purpose for his life. He found a refuge that whatever may come he will never be alone again. In every battle and trials that he and his child may face, he believes that there is victory and they are not forgotten because there is a great future for them. It leads him to open his mind that his wife may not be with them but in times of losing hope there is strength in Father’s arms.
