This is a tough one, as I cant post many details (due to this being an open group, and one of the relevant characters still being alive - Im not all that comfortable sharing the personal info of living people), but Ive not come across this issue in my tree until now, so Im not sure what to do. Ive been seeking the birth parent of a relative of mine - I know this parent would now be dead. I know their name, and rough year of birth. I believe I have found them, but because this person was an absent parent, they do not turn up on any census records with the family. So how can I ever be sure Ive found the right person? What other options for confirming this link do I have if the census cant help me at all?
