This is a tough story, goes into many complex issues. Let me share another. In one of the churches I served, there was a famous deacon everyone loved, who was a pillar of the community. Everyone grew up knowing him as just a hugely helpful loving guy. They didnt know however the story I got to hear, from one of the old mothers of the church. He once was the infamous neighborhood drunk, but wandered into church in the middle of the service (small inner city churches, you know about this..) When the preacher gave the alter call, he walked up. Then this old grandmother, at that time a young mom, went up with her husband and told this young man. now youve become a christian, we are family, come home with us today. There were a lot of ups and downs for the YEARS he lived with them, but eventually he developed into the man of God that everyone growing up in the generation before mine only knew as a the great pillar of the community, ready to help anyone in need. I know I want to live like that, I pray for this young man that he will find someone who wants him, and I pray for those reading this post, that wed be ready to re-arrange our lives to love those on our path.
