This is also not traffic related, but it definitely pertains to those of us living in the Cherry/Whitlockville/Old Mill Lane vicinity, and I am curious to hear feedback. Weve probably all received notices from the Town about the proposed group home on Old Mill Lane, and I have also received a couple of versions of a boilerplate opposition letter - with requests to send my own version on to Chris Burdick. The opposition letter is very legal-like, and I am trying to get to make sense of the main opposition - other than the fact that - lets be honest - few of us would particularly want a group home to open right in our neighborhood (and in some cases here, right next door). This is such a fraught issue - we might all support group homes in theory, and frown on the Not in My Backyard response to them - but then the reality hits, and it becomes more complicated. For many of us, our home is our greatest financial investment, and the idea that its value could be threatened is legitimately frightening. On the other hand, everyone deserves a nice place to live. Before I send any letter, Id like to know more about the cons (and potential pros) of having such a home in the neighborhood. Lets discuss.
