This is an area where nobody can list with any certainty which are the best, as if we knew what they know; they would hardly rank in this top 10. Any intelligence agency works for its own country and although these agencies may at times share information, no agency will pass on all the information that it has. Although the primary task of all these agencies is to protect its countries interests, each agency may have their own other responsibilities. It is therefore hard to judge what or how much intelligence any of these agencies has but going purely on recent events, this is a list of the top 10 best intelligence agencies in the world 2012-2013: 01: ISI (Pakistan)......... Even with its supposed failure with Osama Bin laden, the Inter Service Intelligence agency is still thought to be the best in the world today. It is the least funded out of these top ten but still has 10,000 agents working all around the world. 02: CIA (United States)................ With 22,000 employees, this is one of the largest and best funded intelligence agencies in the world. The Central Intelligence Agency was formed in 1947. 03: MOSSAD (Israel)......... Because of Israel’s close ties to the United States, MOSSAD works very close with the CIA. It also has strong links to RAW, India’s intelligence agency. 04: MI6 (United Kingdom)....... The main headquarters for this agency is situated in London. MI6 has had some remarkable achievements in the past and continues to work closely with the US and Israel. 05: MSS (China)......... China has the largest population of any country and so their need for intelligence is great. The MSS is especially known for hiring other nationals to work for them. This agency works very close with ISI of Pakistan for the security of South East Asia. 06: FSB (Russia)............ This agency is currently, especially busy and effective, securing the countries intelligence after the break up of the Soviet Union. As well as working close with ex-soviet agencies the FSB also works close with RAW (India). 07: DGSE (France)........... This agency is different from almost all other intelligence agencies, in so far as it also deals with crime in France. It has been estimated that the DGSE employs up to ½ million people. 08: RAW (India) The Indian intelligence agency is known to work close with the US, Israel, Russia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh intelligence agencies and has been commended on their anti-terrorism work by several other agencies. 09: CSIS (Canada).......... The CSIS has two roles, the first is to liaise with the CIA and other foreign agencies and the second one is to protect the nation on social and economical values. 10: ASIS (Australia)..............
