This is an oldie but I think its relevant in what is happening in that part of the world today THE EYES OF INNOCENCE The eyes of innocence in an orange tradition So beautiful and soulful, from my position They say the eyes are the windows to the soul For this heart is well hidden, for her to console And tell of her heartache, concealed in a robe For its the story the eyes tell, I have no need to probe Oh Mid. Eastern girl you have stolen my heart I have fallen for this vision, and I had from the start! Those eyes are like emeralds which you only show I suppose its your duty, but we will never know Tradition and culture can hide a beauty within And I sit here and stare, completely void of any sin Its a mark of ones beauty, and its all in the eyes This Mid Eastern princess who has to disguise A body that could be beautiful, a perfect shape Hidden in a robe, with only eyes that do gape Those eyes of innocence, windows to the soul A curfewed existence, I would like to extol And show the world such beauty covered in cloth A shame that a culture is so hidden, thats why I scoff, Expose all this beauty, which is hidden in disguise! Let the world see, beyond those beautiful eyes! Oh Middle Eastern girl, your beauty excels Its all in those eyes! That is how one always tells! dip
