This is an open letter from one of our members who is married to an officer. She has been keeping a lot of this in, as Im sure many of you have, and has decided to break her silence: Ive been debating with myself regarding posting this ... obviously, Ive decided to put my heart and soul out here ... Im not expecting or hoping that anyone agree with me ... everyone is entitled to their opinion ... I am beyond pissed off and heartbroken ... it has been escalating for MONTHS ... I have reached a point that I can no longer remain silent. I am deeply, head over heels, IN LOVE with my husband ... and he is a POLICE OFFICER. Who are you to spew the vile hatred of POLICE?? You are so quick to judge their actions based on the gospel truth that you think your news teams are reporting. Who are you to incite hatred and violence against them just because they wear a uniform?? WHO ARE YOU that demand their death?? Let me tell you WHO I AM. I am a Police Wife ... he vowed to protect you ... I vow to protect HIM. I am a mother to children that love and adore their father ... he is their HERO (and mine) ... not just because of his calling & courage to wear a BADGE, but because of the man that HE IS. I am the one that sends my husband out into the unknown with a tight hug, a kiss, and a smile ... as soon as I see him pull out of our driveway, I PRAY. I pray that he safely returns home to us at the end of shift. I pray that ALL of his BLUE family also return home safely. I am the mother that listens as our children tell me their fears of losing DADDY ... I comfort them knowing that I can never promise them that Daddy will be all right. My heart breaks for our children in these moments. I am PROUD of my POLICE OFFICER HUSBAND! He comes to you in your worst moments with lights blazing as he mentally prepares himself for all possibilities of the scenario at hand. He runs IN as you are trying to run OUT of harms way. He sees the worst of humankind, yet he will pin his badge to his chest again and continue to report for duty day after day. THIS is his CALLING! WE ARE A POLICE FAMILY ... you that hate us WILL NOT DEFEAT US ... this BLUE BOND UNITES US ... ALWAYS. We will never forget those that have answered their final call ... we will grieve together ... we will remain united.
