This is awfully long but I hope people still read my thoughts on some issues we face today.. We as a species have an almost unlimited potential to take in information, to learn about our planet and universe and to show compassion to those who need it. We have an insatiable curiosity that has lead us to discover all that we have and that has thrusted us into the modern age. Yet somehow we are slowly (quickly) failing as a sentient species. As our planets most powerful beings we have an obligation to protect this earth, and everything on it. Yet our curiosity and compassion has largely been replaced by ignorance and greed (that or weve always been ignorant and greeedy and its just showing more blantantly these days..) Why do so many people spend valuable time idolising people like Kim khardashian and why do we spend so much time watching useless batshit reality shows which only showcase selfishness and greed which rots our brains? But i guess its not surprising when it seems like most media only care about how many views they achieve, not the accuracy nor the content of what they show. If more people watched, listend and idolised those like Carl Sagan, Neil degrasse Tyson and David Attenborough (his documentaries), I guarantee wed get our curiosity back. Wed appreciate life and the universe so much more, if we only listened to the amazing stuff out there. If people started listening to philosphers like Alan watts and jiddu krishnamurti, I guarantee theyd show more compassion and less greed. We need to be aware of what we let our minds absorb, and try to assimilate what is benifical. Also why are so many people so cynical about science and think it has its own selfish agenda? The only agenda science has is to reliably and systematically push into the realms of the unknown and take our species to new heights. Science is one of the greatest and noblest things to have happened to humans and wed be no where without it. Science is the epitome of humanitarianism. Although in a world run by capitalism its hard not to believe every one is only out for themselves. But capitalism (run within democracy) is the best way we know to run socities that makes progress, albeit sometimes for the worse. We or our planet are not destined to oblivion just yet. But we need to change our perspective and work together to change this world for the better, so there is a world for future generations. To anyone that has read this and actually cared, ask yourself what are you really working towards currently (in terms of career, hobbies, etc). Is what youre doing what you really want to do? Is it benifical to humanity and this planet? If not, are you seriously content that you get to live (which is crazy in its own right, like what even is life?!) on this beautiful but damaged planet, and yet not do anything to change the way things are? To not try and protect this planet and those on it? Talking about issues is one thing, but doing something about it is another. Dont just sit there and complain about the way things are, work towards bettering yourself and this planet.
