This is concerning. Reposting from Hugo Kristinsson The price aside, it is vital for the future to look at sustainability. We live on a seismic land. We will be facing a higher seismic risk for the next 20-30 years. Land was categorised based on predicted subsidence. TC3 is land that is predicted to subside in excess of 100mm. This was based on particular Peak Ground Acceleration 0.22.There is a lot of such land around Christchurch. What is most concerning is that MBIE has now lowered the specific Peak Ground Acceleration to 0.11 which indicates that TC3 land will not subside more than around 50mm. Based on these lower calculation the TC3 land that is being subdivided is categorised as TC2. The land is not any better, TC3 land should be avoided for new development. These practices will have dire consequences for Christchurch and history of liquefaction and subsidence will repeat itself. I URGE the City planners and Council to stop these practices. Same applies for repairs and new foundations for rebuild. The consequences are huge for the whole city.
