This is definitely worthy of its own post. Shared by our brothers and sisters at Canal Fulton Ohio P.D. Thank you. Its no secret that the holidays are an especially dangerous time for police officers. Lets all do our best to protect and serve, but also to make it home to our families. Not only on Christmas, but every day. Canal Fulton Police (Ohio) ‘Twas the night before Christmas When all thru the house Not a creature was stirring Not even a mouse. Disrupting the pure darkness The cell phone light shined He scrambled to get on his uniform His Brothers in blue were in a bind. Hoping he would be home For the boys awoke at seven He paused for a brief moment To send a few words to Heaven. “Lord please let me return Back to my boys and wife Let us safely take this killer Without jeopardizing ones life She awoke to him softly praying As her tears streamed onto the pillow Sometimes it’s just a gut feeling But sometimes you just know. He scampered out to his cruiser As she watched out the window He took off with lights and sirens Forgetting his portable radio. Holding the radio closely She listen to the incident unfold “I am on scene to help my brothers in blue” To dispatch this is what he told. She then felt so guilty For always wanting so much Now the best present of all Was just his warm loving touch She knew it was him When dispatched echoed, “Officer Down!” She opened up her mouth to scream But was unable to make a sound. She laid in bed with the oldest The warm tears fell so silently How was she going to tell them That their daddy died so violently. Holding on to his little hand It didn’t seem fair or right That because of one, two boys lost a father On this cold, dreary, and winters night. She heard a noise and went downstairs To see him sobbing by the tree He looked at her and muttered the words “Bill had two little boys just like me.” She placed her hands on his shoulders No words needed spoken With the falling of each sorrowful tear She knew his heart was completely broken. With Christmas lights reflecting in her eyes She thought about the widow-to-be And she threw away all her presents “For this Christmas this is how it ought to be.” She said, “This Christmas lets just focus On having and loving each other For children will awake tomorrow With the news of a lost father.” We take this time to thank you Lord For those brave Hero’s that was taken Who gave their life in protecting us Form the evil, the lost, and the forsaken. And please bless each of the families Letting the children grow Knowing that their father/mother are hero’s And are appreciated from head to toe. The meaning of Christmas is sometimes lost. The best presents are not the ones given on Christmas but the ones we already have and take for granted. To all the Law Enforcement Families who have lost a father or mother, brother or sister, son or daughter, Aunt or Uncle, grandma or grandpa, we honor your loved ones for giving their life for the protection of ours. From the Canal Fulton Police Department: A happy Christmas to all and to all a good night. 3 hours ago · Like · 4
