This is for all of my Remax agents especially.... As bad as I hate it, we cant please all the people all the time. I got a call from a clients mother this afternoon about a drain line issue in a home I inspected 11 months ago. Even though that is well outside my liability period per our signed agreement which I provided to them two times, for client satisfaction, I immediately agreed to drive from Soddy Daisy to Cleveland tomorrow morning, around a100 miles round trip, to see if this was something I should have seen. In preparation for going I reviewed the report. Doing so I discovered many references in the report, provided to them the day of the inspection, to my having no access to the crawlspace in this home on the date and time I inspected. (I cant inspect what I cant access). So I provided this informations many locations in the report with another copy of the report and told the client that I, because of this review, did not feel like the issue could have been seen on that day and I was respectfully rescinding my offer to revisit the property. We as inspectors do not create conditions or restrict our own access. While she was thrilled I was going to return knowing I had no obligation, she was angry when I changed my mind based on my later findings. She proceeded to tell me she is a 40+ year real estate agent/broker with Remax in GA and was going to slander me to every Remax office in five states. I cant stop her although I can sue her if she carries through. I wanted my fb friends that are Remax to know my side should she do this. Id also appreciate it if you let me know if she does and you do hear anything. Hopefully she will rethink this and realize I in fact am faultless in this issue. Anyone I work with knows that although none of us are perfect I do try to be as thorough as possible no matter who Im inspecting for. I wish circumstances concerning access had been different...
