This is for the high schoolers out there. Interested in Conservation? Read below for an interesting opportunity for an internship, or to set up a presentation to learn more at thesca.org/serve/internships The SCA School Year Program offers members the opportunity to connect with nature, learn about environmentalism and conservation, gain a strong work ethic, and be part of a positive, diverse, and engaged community. No outdoor experience or previous knowledge about the environment needed! The general program structure consists of two evening meetings per month, and a monthly weekend camping/conservation trip to different sites around the bay area (December-May). Students are expected to find their own transportation to the downtown Oakland office for meetings, but all other costs including camping equipment, site rental fees, food, and transportation to the site, are covered by the SCA. Some of our members join because they are interested in environmental careers, others join because they have never gone camping before and want to experience something new, but all of our members come away from the experience with a deeper sense of connection and empowerment. We would love to come present to your students about our program! The presentation is about 20 minutes long and includes a short video clip. All interested students are then encouraged to apply online and interview if selected. Available Presentation Dates: September 23rd- 25th, 30th October 1st-2nd, 8th-10th, 14th-16th, 21st -23rd, 28th-30th If you are interested in having a presentation in your classroom/center, please respond with several dates that would work for you!
