Life lessons 12 January 2014. Expectations form the basis of any relationship. When expectations are not met, it causes hurt and causes drift and distances in relationships. Q: Do prayers and wishes help in any way as actions and deeds are required to move ahead in life? Sharings: Wishes are a wishers way to reach upto us. It is upto the receiver to receive the wishes. They reinforce into us more positivity. Human beings need endorsement for what they do. They also help me stay on track and also help me decide what is good or bad. Thoughts, wishes and actions is the sequence of events which manifests into me doing what I am capable of doing. A lot of people can wish for a single person or a cause to succeed, which will create the required energy for the success of the cause. A Mahatma Gandhi or a Anna Hazare could not have done it alone in one life time if the entire nation would not have wished for them. Wishes is a way of communicating to people my expectations from other. We wish someone saying May you excel in the year to come is my expectation from them. Actions is the momentum of life whereas wishes give the required direction. Actions with right direction will take me places. Lets say I am swimming at a speed of 10 Kms/hour in a stream. I want to swim for 1 hour. In an hour I complete 10 Kms. The water is flowing at 2 Kms/hour and I am swimming with the flow, I complete 12 Kms in one hour. If I am swimming against the flow, I end up swimming 8 Kms even if I am swimming at 10 Kms / hour. According to scriptures human life is a cause of Kismat and Karma Kismat / Prakriti / Natures contribution in my life Karma / My contribution in my life. The natures contribution in my life is a result of many small and big cause and effect phenomenon. I saw a father beating his son for some mistake. Seeing that incident I decided that I will not do anything which will annoy my parents and elders so that I dont get the beating. This experience is the natures contribution in my life. No one will ever be able to explain the reason of why I had to experience the incident of father beating the son. A child was very naughty and not at all interested in studies. Parents had almost given up on the child. Threatening, abusing, beating, incentives and all other techniques had failed in getting the boy to study. Someone mentioned to the parents about a new father who had come to the church and who is exceptional with dealing with children. Without much hope the parents decide to sends their son to that father on Sunday. The very next Sunday, the father drops the son to the church. In the evening the son comes home. The normally anxious and live wire child had suddenly mellowed down. He went straight to his room, opened his books and started studying. This was a shock to the parents. This went on for the entire month. The mother time and again asked the son about the discussion with the father at the church. She was very worried about what the father had done to her child. A month later the child had his exams. For the first time the child had scored decent marks. For the first time probably after coming back from the counseling at the church, the parents saw a smile on the childs face. They now asked the child about what had the father at the church said to him that made him study. The child said, the father did not say anything. There I saw a man on the cross. I realized that he was punished for not studying and not behaving properly. I did not want to be the next one nailed on the cross. The speed and the direction of the river is not in our control. The river resembles life. When the flow of water is in the same direction of my swimming I reach a little extra distance. Now if I replace speed with time, I will cover 12 Kms in one hour with the flow of water. To cover the same 12 Kms with the river flowing against me, I will need to swim for 1.5 hour. Some people might decide to swim for one hour and be happy with wherever they reach. It can be 8, 10 or 12 Kms. If the river is flowing against my direction of swimming at a speed of 9 Kms / hour and if I have decided to swim 10 kms, I will have to swim for 10 hours at the speed of 10 Kms / hour. When I look at a few lives of people who have been successful in a short span of time, we call them lucky. It is nothing but that they were swimming with the flow of the river. I can create my destiny. It is possible only if I dont care about the speed of the water. I am ready to put the required efforts to reach my destiny. To hell with everyone and everything else should be the attitude for reaching the destination. I am willing to put whatever efforts are required. I am not dependent on Kismat. One person believes that Kismat plays a important role whereas other person feels that Karma is important. Both are right in there place. Karma alone cannot give me the desired results. Karma will give me the power to overcome the obstacles life throws in my path. Nature alone, Prakriti alone cannot give me what I want. Vedas call it Prakriti and Prarabdha. Gandhiji and Subhash Chandra Bose were working together in the freedom struggle. Subhashchandra Bose was very close and important person in Bapus life. Violence not to kill, violence to defend. In his parting speech Netaji said, Bapu your path and my path to get freedom for the country is different, but you will always be my leader. Netajis thought was that 95% people are passive. They go with the flow. People have the tendency to go with the winners because that gives them a feeling of being a winner. It is difficult to ignore winners. We end up celebrating with winners even if we hate them. God will give me the strength to stand but HE will not help me stand. The creator gives me many abilities but I have to use those abilities to produce the results. Do everything possible in a positive frame of mind. Count your blessings. Be with positive people. Read about people who have gone through similar challenges and emerged winners. When I do all this, I am preparing myself to go through the challenges of life. This is where wishes play a very important part. As in the construction industry we have a labour contractor who works when raw material is supplied to him. Similarly, God is a labour contractor. I need to give the raw material like confidence, efforts, positive thoughts to the contractor i.e God, HE will create a great structure or monument out of it. If I dont supply the right raw material a ugly and weak structure will be built. Whether I believe or dont believe in God, does not make any difference to HIM. Like Gravity does not care if I believe in its existence, it will work on me. I need to accept its presence and work in coordination with its existence for me to minimize my efforts to produce the desired results. Raw material and the contractor together will create the building. HE is not an emotional thing neither will HE pity you. HE does not need appeasement. HE believes only in Prakriti and Prarabdha.
