This is from an us military officer: President Obama has hit a new low in his record of betrayals. It is with absolute and terrible grief that I tell you that President Obama has appointed a German brigadier general to serve as the chief of staff at the United States Army Europe Command (USAREUR), headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany. While this may seem difficult for many civilians to grasp, the gravity of this action placing a German general officer in a U.S. command, is, nonetheless, a shocking and unprecedented betrayal by the Commander in Chief, President Obama, of the sovereignty of the United States and her magnificent military forces. What follows is a copy of my letter to United States Senators, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. I have also sent a near identical letter to my United States Representative, Dr. Michael Burgess (R-TX-26) in the U.S. House of Representatives. Even if you doubt that writing letters to your senators and representatives will be productive, I urge you to take the time and make certain that they hear your outrage over this betrayal of our national sovereignty and integrity with our service members. The first step in any action is to give those who represent you in Washington a chance to do their job. If you should like to copy and paste my letter (making appropriate changes to reflect your own recipients and yourself as the sender), please feel free to do so. But whatever you do, communicate with them however you can! I suggest that you send hard-copy letters to your members of Congress through the U.S. Postal Service. But above all, I implore you with all urgency to use your internet search engine to find the official web page of your elected officials (you have two senators and one district representative) and contact them through the email option that each will have on their web page. This is an urgent matter! Treat it as a matter of gravest concern not only upon our national security, but U.S. sovereignty in the world! Thank you. My letter follows: The Honorable Senator John Cornyn, Texas The United States Senate 517 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 August 5, 2014 Re: Appointment of Brigadier General Markus Laubenthal, German Army, as Chief of Staff, United States Army Europe (USAREUR) by President Barack Obama: an attack on U.S. sovereignty, loss of integrity with U.S. forces, and a direct betrayal of U.S. service members. Dear Senator Cornyn, It is with a most profound sense of grief and concern that I have learned that President Barack Obama has appointed Brigadier General Markus Laubenthal, a member of the German Army, as Chief of Staff of the United States Army Europe (USAREUR). While I do not doubt that BG Laubenthal is a fine officer of the German Army. Neither do I suspect him remiss of the excellent character one would expect of a flag officer of an allied nation. Nor do I question his excellence in duty in peacetime or in war; but, I do call your attention to the fact that he is, nevertheless, a member of a foreign army who has no commitment to the Constitution of the United States. As such, he is fundamentally disqualified from serving in any officer position within a United States military command. Indeed, no American officer may even serve in the United States armed services that are not first a citizen of the United States and who has, prior to assuming their commission, signed their oath of office statement that swears their commitment to the U.S. Constitution! Are we to believe that this German general has forsaken his own obligations to the German Army to embrace allegiance within a U.S. command--while remaining an officer of the German Army? Such a belief would be foolish and wrong for Americans and Germans alike! And what does this say to the men and women of the United States armed forces? Are we to believe that there were no brigadier generals or colonels in the United States Army qualified to serve as the Chief of Staff, USAREUR? Such a proposition would be preposterous! Outrageous! Unreasonable by any rational measure or belief! To be sure, this action by President Obama clearly reveals not only his dedication to the destruction of the United States military as a fighting force in the world, but a contempt for the American officers who should have been considered to this important position within this U.S. command! Let us be absolutely clear on this point. At no time in the history of the United States has any officer of a foreign nation been assigned to serve under a U.S. military commander in a U.S. military unit. It is typical for unified commands in combat that allied nations will cooperate with one another, and assign members to serve in positions as liaison officers; but we have never had a foreign officer assigned to a position in a U.S. authorized command serving within that units American chain of command. This officer could never be subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Clearly, BG Laubenthal could not serve as the Chief of Staff in an American command, maintaining integrity with the unit commander and subordinate unit personnel, while having a simultaneous divided obligation to the German Army. This appointment can only prove to be corrosive in every area of operations, readiness, and the necessary confidence among Americans wondering where our military is headed. The obvious issue is that this appointment of BG Laubenthal must not be allowed to stand. It is clear that President Obama has an agenda, regarding our national defense structure, to so degrade the armed forces of the United States that they can no longer stand to protect freedom in the world. You may take the time to imagine what motivations may be behind his behavior toward the U.S. military. We citizens, however, cannot afford to wait to see what he will do next to disarm and destroy our American fighting forces. I ask you to immediately begin to work with your colleagues in the Congress--and perhaps in the Courts--to stop this rogue Commander in Chief and his Secretary of Defense from further damaging our armed forces--even if it means his removal from office. We must have relief from this tyranny; else I fear that the People will not rest passive long. This president is a lawless man who exercises dangerous authority improperly and destructively. He must be stopped now; or else I fear that our nation cannot long survive.
