This is from someone who jumped from a Cuban ship many years ago: I remember years ago, when I was first learning English, that my teacher used to say: “Don’t be afraid of using small, single words, everything in life that is really important can be said in just one meaningful word, like God, mother, dad, son, life, death, friend, sorry, etc. Small, well chosen words say what they mean, when you don’t know what you mean, then use lots of big words. Little words say what they mean, if you don’t know what you mean use big long words, they do fool little people. (Obama comes to mind).
