This is horrible. Comments: 1) This might be the end of the Malaysian Airlines brand. I dont know how any company can survive two such incidents within a few months, and still expect to have customers. 2) Its going to be extremely important to learn whether it was Ukrainians, Russian separatists or Russian military who shot down this plane. Whichever group did it is in for a public relations disaster. 3) On a personal level, Im not real thrilled to learn that a simple surface to air missile can shoot down an airliner at 33,000 cruise altitude. Ive flown over plenty of weird countries in my day: Iran, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Cuba, Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela, North Korea...even Madagascar. I dont like the idea that whats going on in those weird places could actually affect an airliner at cruise altitude. What a crazy world we live in.
