This is how man should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 1 Corinthians 4:1 There is a story about a pastor who was considered to be quite a failure. The congregation claimed that his sermons really werent very inspiring. His financial knowledge at council meetings was meager. His abilities to directing the youth lacked something too. This pastor had a son who suffered from a fatal disease. As his son lay dying, the pastor felt that it was his obligation to tell his son that death was near. In deep sorrow, he asked, Are you afraid to die, my son? The boy smiled weakly and said, No dad. Im not. Im not afraid to meet Jesus. Not if Hes like you! What a wonderful gift to this pastor whom many labeled a failure. The Lord requires of His servants that they be faithful, not that they be successful as the world measures success. God wants them to be faithful in proclaiming and applying the Gospel truth that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. To those true to their calling, the Lord will say, Well done, good and faithful servant...Enter into the joy of the Lord.
