This is important to me because due process of the law is a foundation of democracy. When people can count on a prescribed due process, then everyone knows they have recourse to an impartial system of judgement. It may not be perfect, but its the best we can do. The problem with what has happened under Stephen Harpers watch is that the most basic of components has been denied. When did our Prime Minister last give a press conference and speak truthfully to us, the citizens of Canada, and answer questions that deserve answers? He is our representative. As I understand it, our Canadian Charter of Rights defines that the Prime Minister answers to Parliament. We deserve and require clear and honest communication. Otherwise how can we the people participate effectively in guiding the decisions of Parliament?
