This is infuriating. Ive suffered from PTSD twice in my life - once, after a botched surgical procedure; again after an early accident in which my newborn son and I tumbled down a steep flight of wooden stairs, fracturing his skull (hes fine, thank heavens). Certain sounds triggered the first; tall flights of stairs the second. Are they going to post warnings on stairs? On cars, for auto accident survivors? What *cant* be a trigger? How about, instead of this ridiculous victim-mentality protection, these schools consider offering increased support and counseling for those who do find themselves triggered, and increased education so that teachers and fellow students can recognize the signs of someone being triggered, and offer help? Simply eliminating the triggers - even if it were possible, which it isnt - merely ensures that the trauma survivor will have no opportunity to recognize whats going on and to work toward healing.
