This is letter that I just wrote to a woman who bought a large piece of furniture from me and has refused to pay me. In the subject line I wrote; The lesson. Please be aware and be reminded these people walk amongst us. Dear Karoline, This year will mark my 3rd Christmas selling as Just Shut Up and Paint in my booths at McHaffie Flea Market. Along the way I have met so many amazing people who have inspired me to reach higher, dig deeper and to stay positive. When I first started my main objective was to save furniture, reduce landfill and motivate like minded souls - and it still feels incredible to be able to say were saving the planet one piece of furniture at a time. Making money has always been secondary and in living, preaching, and being laughed at for that belief I have become very successful at the market and on my facebook page. Yet, in saying that when I met you and you told me your story of how your were opening up a new store and desperately needed fixtures I agreed to sell you my display cabinet for $500. I took you at your word when you told me you would pay me, waited patiently while you played games of lost cell phones, illnesss and EMT stop payments, and continued to hold out hope that you would do the right thing and pay me the money you owe me! and this in lies the lesson .... My business, my life, my whole world has been running along for so well for so long now that I have completely forgotten that people like you do exist. You are the ones we warn our children about, read about in newspapers, visit in jails and hope to never have to encounter. You - who waste the time of the courts, or get visited by the collection agency the nameless, faceless thief that everyone shuns. You are real. Do you believe in karma Karoline? I do. Keep the cabinet. Keep the money. Go away. Do not darken my thoughts any longer. Andrea
