This is literally the biggest load of shit I have ever read in my entire life. 1. When a man asks a father for permission to marry a daughter, it is inferred that he is going to love the daughter for the rest of his life as much as the father has done up until now. 2. When a father is presents his daughter at the alter, it is not a transferral of property, it is the father formally acknowledging the former in front of the family. 3. Taking a mans surname is a tradition that represents the family as a whole, including wife and children if any. It represents unity of the family as the husband and wife are both under the one family name, and while it is the womans choice whether to take it or not, and as to how she represents herself, it is certainly not medieval. Tradition is not to be confused with something that has gone past its sell by date. I honestly dont have a clue how people like this can actually be acknowledged as journalists.
