This is long but contains important info.. To our wonderful Oaktree Family, Whoever is praying for more snow know that you are anointed and we will be contacting you for other prayer requests ASAP. Although snow for this area does bring a level of excitement we also need to continue in school things. So here are a few key updates and reminders on how this impacts Oaktree Academy: 1. Normal school release times today. We will be closing school promptly at 3:00 PM. High school afternoon electives are still happening but most of our students get out at 12:45 PM. 2. The meeting for current and new families will be canceled tonight and is rescheduled for next Tuesday, February 4th at 7 PM at New Life Providence Church (1244 Thompkins Ln Virginia Beach 23464). Please tell your friends! We will still be serving hot cocoa and cookies at next weeks meeting! 3. The Parent/Teacher Conference Day for next Thursday, February 6th is canceled and will now be a full school day for all students. Please mark your calendars accordingly. If you need to schedule a meeting with a teacher please contact them directly for a good time and date. 4. We are instructing students to take all of their books home with them. We also have instructed teachers to assign work on all home days. In doing this it will allow us not to extend the school year into June and for now we won’t have to have school on a future Friday or Saturday. We can all have fun in the snow and do some school at the same time..and then you can brag to your friends when you’re sitting on the beach at the end of May while they’re still in school! 5. The registration deadline for Spring Sports is also being extended until next Tuesday, February 4th by 1 PM. All interested 6th-12th grade students must complete and turn in their forms to get on a team! Forms are located in the main office. It is crucial that everyone gets their forms in as we need minimum numbers confirmed in order to have these teams. 6. Stay tuned for our school closing status. If school is canceled it will be televised on WAVY, WVEC, and WTKR stations and you’ll receive a message from the school. Be safe, enjoy the snow, and be looking out for our updates!
