This is my all time favorite version of Genesis Firth Of Fifth. This version was recorded in 1981 with the Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson lineup. Tony in particular sounds amazing, and so do Phil and Chester, particularly during the bass pedals / end of guitar solo portion. Daryls solo is really great as well. This version of the song can only be found in two places as far a I know: The b-side to the 12 single of Thats All and the Europe-only album Turn It On Again The Best Of 81-83, both long out of print and rare. I know folks tend to prefer versions with Steve Hackett, and theyre great but this one takes the cake for me. This is the whole song as well (sans the intro, which was never played live anyway), which as far as I know is the only tour when the post-Hackett lineup did this.
