This is my oldest best friend Kahdija. We were inseparable all - TopicsExpress

This is my oldest best friend Kahdija. We were inseparable all through Elementary school and she is the one who first inspired me to full on sing. She has such a soulful voice and we used to vocal jam on the playground together. Shes also a gifted visual artist and we continually challenged each other as children artistically as we continued to push each other on to whole new levels. She did a gorgeous life-like portrait of Martin Luther King that I remember blew my mind in 5th grade, and made me want to learn how to shade with pencil. Ill also never forget the time she played Ella Fitzgerald in the musical my mom wrote for our school in order to celebrate Black History Month. We reunited up in San Francisco a couple years back after ten years of not seeing each other, first for Thai cuisine downtown, then later up in North Beach for Chinese late one April night. She in art school, I in theater school, with not a thing between us even remotely changed, whether laughing hysterically, hurrying by crack heads in the Mission after watching live jazz all evening, drawing, singing, and going to punk shows, or just waltzing side by side in comfortable silence, I will always love you sister.
