Megan is 7 years old. Shes the kind of girl who has Ninja Turtles and Barbies at her tea party while listening to Aersomith and Taylor Swift, wearing a Super Girl cape and tutu. She loves pink, shopping, horses, art and music. She also has Cerebral Palsy. We brought her home from the hospital with no clue of any complications. Before three months i knew something wasnt right. We spent the next nine months answering everything with “i don’t know” and it felt terrible. I had so many questions and i was ready to find out what it was! The question “Why” didnt matter anymore, “What Now?” was all that mattered. She started receiving therapy at 6 months old. She started doing things we didnt think she would. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy on her first birthday. By this time two years ago, she got approved for a power chair. Our car isnt accessible for it so shes only been able to use it at school. For 7 years I have walked behind her pushing her in a stroller, pulling a grocery cart behind me. Im waiting for the day that i can walk BESIDE her as she drives herself in her chair. Ive dreamed about that one and only thing for years. This is something that I didn’t think she would be able to do and she CAN. She is SO smart, SO happy and anyone who meets her never forgets her. Shes incredible. She wants that independence, she wants to be able to go to that side of the room, she wants to follow other kids to go play with that toy…etc. Shes very fortunate to not have any medical problems, or cognitive problems. But physically, shes dependent on everyone else. All we want is to be able to have her chair with us so that we can open her world thats been waiting for her. Please vote, vote, vote!
