This is not a cranial generation. We are narcissistic, - TopicsExpress

This is not a cranial generation. We are narcissistic, self-centered-live-for-the-moment people. We have surrendered to subjectivism and pragmatism. That is, we do what feels good and define something good if it is popular. This is why the latest studies reveal that our college students no longer believe in moral absolutes. As I have said, they have capitulated to an unhealthy tolerance that lacks common sense and critical analysis. This spirit influences todays church. If you dont know the difference you would think that some churches are having a rock-and-roll session or the scene is originating from some hard-rock festival. Dont misunderstand me. If emotion is generated in the context of biblical truth and the power of the Holy Spirit, I have no problems with any reasonable and discreet emotional outbreak. My aunt Minnie use to dance all over the church house when someone was saved. But the dancing came after a congregation of people broken and weeping for the lost spent great periods of time at the old-fashioned altar. This is what I dont see in the modern church. Where is the brokenness? The burden for the lost? Where are the tear of repentance and the shouts of joy when forgiven? We love our entertainment, instruments and sets that generate emotional responses, and the easy-believism messages. We have form but deny the power. This is why some of our churches are better known for their social programs rather than their redemption of lost souls. We need to think, study, and return to the objective and historical truth of the infallible Word of God and preach it without compromise. We are not here to win popularity contests. We are here to follow our Lord with a self-denying, cross-bearing commitment to the Savior who died that we might live.
